Equi-Tee powered and manual
Shake'n Rakes(tm) offer the
fantastic combination of saving you money and time while also providing
a more consistent golf course playing experience. Equi-Tee rakes
are incredibly effective
hand tools for picking out bunker contamination!
The Shake'n Rake provides a high speed
powered up-and-down (shaking) motion that mimics the manual
lofting of the sand that was formerly done by hand. Using
lithium-ion battery power, an integral reciprocating motor increases the
lofting rate to up to 30 times per second. The task of moving damp
sand through a screen can be accomplished without any manual
agitation by the user, so fatigue is eliminated and productivity greatly
increases!
The Shake'n Rake takes a job that was nearly
impossible and makes it routine by doing the sifting for you.
"The
Shake'n Rake is
a wonderful idea and
works great even in damp sand, easily outperforming manual sifting. It
also leaves a nice raked surface, doing the work of two tools."
David W.,
Superintendent, Chambers Bay, WA.

Rake for Golf Course and Beach Care.
For professional superintendents, removing contamination
and stones from golf sand
bunkers makes them
consistent in their structure and reduces mower repairs due to stone
spray. While bunker maintenance is a practice designed to create
the optimal playing experience, the goal of uniformity is time
consuming. Using the lightweight and portable Shake'n Rake one person can pick up all the
visible debris from the surface of a bunker in just minutes.
Carried on the EZ-Go it takes no
gas, no training, and no trailer. A powerful tool for golf course
maintenance, it easily picks out pea-gravel, tree debris such as
needles and pine cones, and grass clippings. It is
uniquely
effective on the tee-side edges of a bunker, where removing stones
eliminates them spraying to a greens surface and damaging your mowers
reel. The Shake'n Rake promotes superior course care from the moment it is utilized
and you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Defining Conflicting Cleaning Efforts.
Bunker maintenance has two distinct phases, the
cleaning of debris and the smoothing of the sand. While the goal
is the same, the tools and techniques are not. Traditional wood or
plastic rakes make quick work of smoothing, but this can hide
contamination, making the problem worse. The Shake'n Rake
addresses this shortcoming, it is the only golf hand tool designed to power
sift debris from sand. Like any new tool, it may require some
new
techniques, but once mastered it is
indispensable.
The Science of Power Sifting.
Bridging among wet sand particles due to their angular
shape and the water's surface tension is a desirable attribute for
bunker sand. It is what keeps it on the bunker faces and prevents it from
washing into drains. It also reduces "fried egg" lies. Unfortunately, it also prevents the
sand particles
from easily falling through a screen. Wheeled screen
powered units use horsepower to vibrate the sand to upset this
bridged structure. However, these units bring problems of their
own, such as cost, portability, liner and lip damage,
set up, maintenance/storage issues, and noise. Repeated heavy vibration
can also break the sand into finer
particles, spoiling the qualities of expensive sand.
Screened hand tools seek to eliminate those problems by using
hand labor. Workers manually agitate the sand by repeatedly
lofting or jiggling the contamination off the screen, each time separating a bit of
debris. Unfortunately, these tools only work in dry conditions
because damp sand requires such a vigorous shaking effort that humans
cannot effectively perform it for very long. Humans can only shake
a rake or a small screen approximately three times per second.
More vigorous action tends to bounce the debris off as well, and it is
this slow motion restriction that drives the cost up. This manual
labor, while somewhat effective, is terribly inefficient and comes at a budget
busting price.
Shake'n Rake bunker sand cleaning magic was recently viewed at the
Chambers Bay, WA, golf course, site of the 2015 US Open, where this
former gravel/sand pit had an ongoing rock contamination issue.
The day was cloudy and rain had fallen earlier, a perfect test since bunkers must
often be cleaned even in poor weather, which,
ironically, may be the optimal time to groom them because the low
play-through rates means not disrupting golfers.
The Shake'n Rake tested was a lightweight, three pound
rake with a re-chargeable lithium battery that ran for the entire day
without a recharge. The tines and
screen of the rake shake in an up-and-down motion at speeds controlled
by a variable trigger, allowing rocks to remain on the screen while sand
filters through. The powered Shake'n Rake was used
successfully in the damp sand and once the sand dried a bit, it was pure
bunker cleaning magic. It removed stones, fescue seedstalks and fir/pine needles on
other golf course areas. Once the stones were removed, the rake very
effectively smoothed the sand. (L. Gilhuly
USGA Dec 10)
While the Shake'n Rake is new to the golf industry (it
was introduced at the 2011 GIS in Orlando), it has been sold worldwide for
several years to clean horse
stalls and was used in the Gulf
States during the BP oil spill to separate tar balls from beach
sand. Rocks in bunkers may not be equivalent to what horses leave
behind, but tell that to a golfer the next time a stone affects their
ball roll...

Equi-Tee powered Shake'n Rakes set
themselves apart from a riding power cleaner by offering outstanding
sifting performance at a surprisingly low cost. Equi-Tee rakes lead the industry
as the only auto-sifting bunker rake. This rechargeable battery
powered portable hand tool will
help you clean bunkers faster, more effectively, and with less labor than any other
method.
The powered
Shake'n Rake looks and feels
similar to a conventional rake. The operator holds the rake handle
normally and then, by depressing a variable speed trigger switch, moves
the electrically powered basket. Only the tines “shake” and
though
they agitate 30 times faster than what can be done manually,
there is no vibration into the hand pole, making the operation smooth
and effortless for the user.
This unique golf bunker sand cleaning "magic" is
accomplished by a tiny integral reciprocating motor running on
lithium-Ion batteries. Shake'n Rakes power clean through dozens of
bunkers before needing a recharge. This patented Power-Sifting
technology separates contamination from the sand as quickly
as you can scoop it into the basket. Carry one on your Cushman for
instant spot cleaning before the contaminations spreads.

The user-friendly non-powered Shake'n
Rake
is specially designed for those who can manually sift where there is no
wet or damp sand to sift. It is also ideal for picking up
debris on fairways. It is constructed with the same ultra-tough tines
as the powered Shake'n Rake, virtually assuring that they will
wear out before they break. Incorporating a patented "Flex"
feature, user back strain is greatly reduced. This flexible
design, combined with a comfortable hand grip and unusually light
weight, makes this an exceptionally easy greens keeping fork to
use.
Both Shake'n Rakes can be ordered in two
different screen sizes, either 1/4"or 3/8" inch. In addition the basket
with no screen (which is perfect for
collecting grass plugs or animal droppings) is available with Standard-Tine or closer 5/16" Mini-Tine spacing.
Equi-Tee rakes are shaped higher on the sides to keep debris from
falling off the edges. Our baskets hold much more than cheaply
made competitors rakes so you
have fewer trips to the debris cart.
Equi-Tee motorized and manual Shake'n Rakes
set themselves
apart by using only the highest quality
materials and carefully inspecting each fork before it is shipped so you
can be assured that each rake is built to last.
Careful
attention to balance, and designed for long product life makes the
Equi-Tee golf bunker rake outperform any other! |
